Meme Mount Rushmore

You know the term, “meme”? The term was coined in 1976 by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins. He used it to describe a behavior, idea, and style that spreads super quickly from people to people in a culture. Around that time, he had no idea how people would use it in the future like we do now as “internet memes”.

Now, we spread it through the internet, mainly social media with humor. There are a lot of varieties like something funny, silly, political, life lessons etc. And, they reference something commonly known like dramas, comedies, or movies. Or, some completely unique images which people casually took like for instance your private animal photos.  They add words to transfer ideas or meanings, turning them into “Internet Memes”. Here are some of my favorite examples.

I have too tons of favorite memes, but I will shut up my mouth because it is not main theme this time haha. Let me know if you have your own favorite! It is always good to know something new humor from others!

By the way, this time, I made an art featuring the internet memes, and here is my art.

Meme Mount Rushmore (2021)
Mount Rushmore

I gathered my favorite meme animals and turned them into The U.S. president’s statues, Mount Rushmore, which Gutzon Borglum and 400 workers sculpted to celebrate 150 years anniversary of The United States. My wife suggested that I should paint something with these statues, and I picked meme ones because I wanted to make them funny and interesting. Below are meme examples of the animals.

Especially I like the wow dog because it looks so catchy (I even made one art).

Wow! (2021)

Even it has a crypto currency called DOGE, which Elon Musk has pushed on twitter, gathering attention for a while.

DOGE reached around $0.70 for one coin on May 5, 2021 (March to early April, it stayed around $0.06), so some people got tons of benefits. (like if you bought from $0.06, you would get roughly 100 times value from what you originally put in, which means $100 would become $10,000). Better or worse, meme stocks are quite risky because they mainly depend on only popularity itself (like literally internet memes), not real values like normal stocks, so some people call it gamble (I don’t disagree with that. In fact, its value is around $0.20 today on August 6, 2021). Thus, if you put money in meme stock, it is better to be careful.

By the way, I hope you enjoy my art & this blog article!

See you till next time.

  1. I especially like your Mount Rushmore Meme, HiRO, because I live only about 30 minutes from Mount Rushmore! 😉 In fact, South Dakota is called “The Mount Rushmore State” I love the detail on your Wow dog!! Your work is very impressive! So good, but fun at the same time! 🙂

    1. Wow I didn’t know you live around there! I have never seen Mount Rushmore in person, so hopefully I can see it someday with my own eyes haha 🙂 Thank you for your kind comments! Honestly, I could not like this art by myself (like I regret uploading it actually…), so your words cheer me up a lot! Thank you again, Beth!

      1. If you and your wife ever make it out to out beautiful Black Hills, I would love to show you both around. I’ll bet you would both like the buffalo and the mountain goats in Custer State Park! 😃
